Many experts feel that incidents of terrorism on American soil are only going to increase. Schools, shopping malls, office buildings, and even hospitals could be considered targets because they are seen as "soft" targets.

Schools now have plans in place in case of an "active shooter" or hostage situation. Yet, many healthcare facilities still do not plans in place to deal with this potential, even though shootings in or near hospitals have increased.

Look over your facility with a critical eye - simple things such as locking exterior doors, checking visitor identification, and securing external oxygen tanks and natural gas lines, can make a big difference in whether you facility is seen as an easy target or not.
